Get Ready to Stomp: Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country’s Grape Stomp Returns This September

Contestants stomp grapes during the annual Grape Stomp competition at Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country's Festival of the Grape.

One of the South Okanagan’s most anticipated harvest celebrations is nearly here, and wine lovers, families, and festival-goers are being invited to roll up their pant legs and join the fun.

The annual Grape Stomp returns to Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country on September 20 as part of the beloved Festival of the Grape, offering participants a chance to experience a hands-on harvest tradition in one of British Columbia’s premier wine regions. With only 30 team spots available and entries selling out each year, organizers are encouraging would-be stompers to register soon.

The competition is simple but delightfully messy: teams of three race against the clock to produce as much grape juice as possible in just three minutes. Participants receive festival admission, tasting tokens, a souvenir wine glass, and a selection of Grape Stomp goodies as part of their entry package.

Fun for the Whole Family

The festivities aren’t limited to adults. The popular Kids Stomp is also returning, giving young participants ages 3 to 18 an opportunity to jump into the action. Teams of three can stomp, squish, and create grape juice together in a family-friendly competition that celebrates creativity and enthusiasm as much as speed.

Advance registration is required, but participation is free. Young stompers can also look forward to prize opportunities, costumes, and special goody bags.

More Than Just a Festival

Visitors attending the Festival of the Grape can also take advantage of a special Wine Insider offer available through the Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country tent. Festival attendees can pick up a complimentary Inside Track Experience Guide featuring more than $850 worth of experiences available throughout the region.

The guide is designed to encourage visitors to explore beyond the festival grounds, highlighting wineries, attractions, and local experiences that showcase everything the South Okanagan wine region has to offer.

Make It a Wine Country Weekend

The Grape Stomp is just one highlight of Wine Capital Weekend, running September 18 through 20. Visitors are encouraged to extend their stay and discover local wineries, restaurants, shops, and attractions throughout Oliver and Osoyoos.

As vineyards transition into harvest season, the weekend offers a perfect opportunity to experience the energy, flavours, and community spirit that make this corner of British Columbia such a popular destination for wine tourism. Whether you’re competing in the Grape Stomp, sampling wines at the festival, or simply exploring the region, the event promises a memorable taste of Okanagan wine country.
