This summer, downtown Nanaimo transforms into a living canvas as Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience arrives for a limited engagement from July 18 to August 29, 2026 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre.

Produced by Paquin Entertainment Group, this Nanaimo presentation has been newly scaled to an expansive 10,000-square-foot installation, custom-designed for the venue. The exhibition is being presented through a dynamic partnership between the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, the Port Theatre, the Nanaimo Museum, and Tourism Nanaimo — all united in a shared vision to elevate Nanaimo’s summer arts calendar and welcome visitors to the Harbour City.

Step Inside the World of Vincent Van Gogh

Rather than viewing paintings from a distance, Beyond Van Gogh invites guests to move freely through a breathtaking 360-degree projection environment featuring more than 300 of Van Gogh’s works. Masterpieces such as Sunflowers, The Starry Night, and Café Terrace at Night dissolve and reassemble across towering walls and floors, immersing visitors in colour, motion, and emotion.

The experience is guided by Van Gogh’s own words, thoughtfully woven throughout the installation and paired with a curated musical score that heightens the emotional impact. It is not simply an art exhibition — it is a fully immersive, multi-sensory journey into the mind and legacy of one of history’s most celebrated artists.

A Cultural Highlight for Nanaimo’s Summer Season

The arrival of Beyond Van Gogh marks a significant moment for Nanaimo’s cultural landscape. By bringing a globally acclaimed immersive exhibition to Vancouver Island, organizers aim to strengthen the city’s reputation as a vibrant arts destination.

Located in the heart of downtown Nanaimo, the Vancouver Island Conference Centre provides the ideal backdrop — just steps from the waterfront, Harbourfront Walkway, and local restaurants. Visitors can easily turn their exhibition visit into a full Harbour City getaway, pairing art with ocean views, local dining, and summer events.
