Britannia Village in Britannia Beach is celebrating its first holiday season with a spectacular light display which turns the historic mining village into a storybook setting against the dramatic backdrop of the Coast mountains and Howe Sound.
The festive decorations include a giant illuminated tree and a selfie garden with photo frame and glowing maple leaf. The village’s buildings and trees are adorned with wreaths and garlands and wrapped in twinkling lights. Whether the plan is to grab a selfie on the way to Whistler or to enjoy a full holiday experience with a visit to the restaurants and shops, Britannia Village will be a must-visit during the festive season in Sea to Sky country.
Opened in spring 2025, Britannia Village has transformed nine original buildings from the historic mine site–some over a century old–into an essential destination on Highway 99. Locals and visitors alike can enjoy services like EV chargers, a kids adventure playground, and public washrooms alongside restaurants and shops including the Britannia General Store and liquor outlet, Autostrada Oyster Bar & Grill, Copper Beach Bar & Kitchen,
Beaucoup Bakery, Copper & Fern Gift Shop, and Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream. The recently opened Sea to Sky Gallery in the Community Hall building features rotating exhibitions by contemporary and First Nations artists.
This Britannia Village holiday season will be the first in what will become an annual tradition bringing festive light and joy to one of BC’s most storied and historic places.
