Today, the inaugural Celebrate BC festival was announced to take place BC Day, August 4, 2025 – at Town Centre Park, Coquitlam.

The free, one-day festival hosted by S.U.C.C.E.S.S., in partnership with the City of Coquitlam and with the guidance and partnership of the Kwikwetlem First Nation (kʷikʷəɫʻɛɛm), will honour the spirit and diversity of British Columbia through music, art, food, and cultural storytelling.

In a tribute to BC’s coastal heritage and Indigenous traditions, the event will play host to the largest salmon barbecue in provincial history, with a whopping 2,000 pounds of barbecued wild salmon prepared on-site by some of BC’s most acclaimed chefs.

“Celebrating BC Day means celebrating the cultures, diversity and traditions that make up our beautiful province,” said Spencer Chandra Herbert, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport. “Our province is home to incredible creativity, from Indigenous artists to newcomers finding new ways to express their heritage, and we are proud to celebrate British Columbians everyday.”

Festival Highlights Include:

●      BC’s biggest-ever salmon barbecue, hosted by the Kwikwetlem First Nation
●      Indigenous fashion show, presented by Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week
●      Live concert performances, headlined by Juno Award-winning artist George Leach
●      Heritage Walk featuring cultural timelines from Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Chinese, and Indigenous communities
●      BC Wine Garden and Best of BC Pavilion showcasing local food, art, and talent
●      Zipline adventure
●      Indigenous storytelling

Celebrate BC is envisioned as a new annual event to celebrate British Columbia – one that reflects the dynamic voices and regions that make up BC’s cultural fabric.

“Celebrate BC is all about bringing people together. It’s a chance for communities from every background to share stories, food, and traditions, and to celebrate everything that makes British Columbia such a special place to call home. At S.U.C.C.E.S.S., we’re proud to help create a space where everyone feels welcome and included,” said Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.

The event is free to attend and open to all ages. Full programming details and performance schedules will be announced in the weeks ahead.
