Vancouver Island-based craft distillers Wayward Distillery has partnered with Pollinator Partnership Canada and The Bar Cart to create a limited-edition cocktail kit that gives back to bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
Labeled Float like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee, this dual cocktail kit features Wayward Distillery’s popular Raspberry Gin Liqueur (25% ABV). Inspired by pollinators, The Bar Cart’s principal, Chris Chuy, wanted to showcase that pollinators weren’t just limited to bees – but butterflies and others as well, something that Wayward Distillery’s original distiller and CEO, Dave Brimacombe knows all too well.
“There’s a big focus on bees, but not enough talk about the other pollinators that make our food supply possible,” says Brimacombe. “We were the first distillery in Canada to use 100 per cent sustainable BC honey to produce our spirits, and we’re super stoked that we’ve been able to maintain our relationship with honey, even as we add additional ferementables such as grain to our portfolio. We’re 100% committed to saving pollinators, and that’s what makes this kit super exciting.”
The cocktail kit showcases two complementary and unique cocktails, Float Like a Butterfly and Sting like a Bee. Inspired by the classic Clover Club, Float like a Butterfly features Raspberry Gin, agave syrup, lemon juice, vegan foamer and is garnished with a blue butterfly pea flower rim. The other cocktail, Sting like a Bee is brighter and sharper, featuring Raspberry Gin, lime, grapefruit bitters, and honey & orange blossom syrup. Either way, we think both are a perfect way to kick off the summer.
This limited-edition cocktail kit makes a total of 8 cocktails (four of each type) and launches on The Bar Cart’s website on June 13 and is priced at $85. $13 from each kit will be donated directly to Pollinator Partnership Canada.
