Nootka Marine Adventures is proud to introduce the Nootka Sound Tuna Showdown, a brand-new annual Albacore tuna fishing tournament slated for September 6–13, 2025, at the scenic Moutcha Bay Resort on Vancouver Island. Presented by Port Boathouse and Yamaha, this exciting week-long event is set to host up to 40 teams and 160 anglers, offering a thrilling challenge in some of the Pacific Ocean’s most rewarding late-season tuna waters.

Anglers will vie for top honors and substantial prizes, including a $30,000 Grand Prize, $15,000 for second place, and daily $5,000 prizes (CAD), making this one of British Columbia’s most anticipated sportfishing events of the year.

“This tournament is about more than just fishing—it’s about camaraderie, competition, and supporting the future of sportfishing in BC,” said Trish Braun, CEO of Nootka Marine Adventures. “We’re proud to celebrate Vancouver Island’s rich angling tradition with an event that brings together passionate fishers from all over.”

Moutcha Bay Resort, located between Gold River and Tahsis, provides ideal access to the offshore grounds where late-summer Albacore tuna are found. These powerful, fast-moving fish require technical skill and stamina, promising an adrenaline-filled challenge for even the most experienced anglers.

Off the water, participants and guests can enjoy a lineup of shore-based festivities, including live music, local cuisine, sponsor displays, and nightly events that celebrate the day’s successes and stories.

Nootka Marine Adventures continues to champion sustainable fishing by collaborating with organizations like the Sport Fishing Institute, Sport Fishing Advisory Committee, and supporting environmental efforts through contributions to the Nootka Sound Watershed Society and the Pacific Salmon Foundation.

Registration is open until August 29, with early-bird benefits available for those who sign up by June 30. For more information and to register, visit nootkamarineadventures.com.
