In partnership with Victoria’s first all-natural wine festival, The Courtney Room team is delighted to host Anthony Buchanan Wines on Thursday March 23rd for a flavourful, multi-course dinner, expertly paired with the winery’s portfolio of natural wines.

A close collaboration between Anthony Buchanan, The Courtney Room’s Wine Director, Colin Davidson and Executive Chef Brian Tesolin, the evening will offer guests the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the unique combination of art and science that goes into natural wine-making. Using gentle techniques on the crush pad and in the cellar, as well as indigenous yeast, minimal amounts of sulfites, no enzymes and no temperature control, Anthony Buchanan Wines are full of personality and purity of flavour.

Winemaker and owner, Anthony Buchanan and Mark Wachtin from Storied Wines & Spirit will be joining the dinner to share their passion for natural wines.

“We are looking forward to hosting Anthony and Mark and sharing these enjoyable and unusual wines with our guests,” says Colin Davidson, Wine Director at The Courtney Room. “The Barnyard Natural Wine Festival is bringing attention to natural and low-intervention wine making practices, which produce wines with an exceptional sense of place – we’re excited to be part of it.”

To pair with these unique wines, Chef Brian Tesolin’s menu includes: Dry Aged Yellowtail Kampachi with lime and sumac cracker, paired with Anthony Buchanan Wines’ 2022 Pet Nat Moscato; Dungeness Crab and Side Stripe Shrimp with radish, kohlrabi, verjus rose hip sabayon with the 2021 Ramato Gris; followed by Charcoal Grilled Sturgeon, meyer lemon coconut emulsion, trout roe with a contrasting pairing of the 2021 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay and 2021 Cuvee Viognier. Two main courses follow: Umami Ravioli with parmesan and kale, with the 2019 Ashlyn Pinot Noir and 2021 Zweigelt; and finally a Roast Lamb Crepinette with buttered potatoes, cauliflower and wild mushroom, paired with the 2019 William Dean Syrah. Petit Fours complete a delicious evening. To view the full menu and wine pairings, click here.
