Merry & Bright Returns to Langley’s Martini Town

Expanded holiday décor, new entertainment, a wider selection of food and beverages, and a refreshed Christmas Market bring fresh discoveries to the annual holiday event

23

More holiday magic is on the way at Martini Town as Merry & Bright returns November 20 to December 31 with an expanded lineup of festive décor, new live entertainment, additional character appearances, and a refreshed Christmas Market. The Langley-based outdoor film set, known for its appearances in popular movies and TV shows, will once again transform into a festive holiday destination, with more to see, taste and experience alongside the Christmas traditions that have made the event a seasonal favourite for merry-makers of all ages.

A significant refresh of Merry & Bright’s décor brings plenty of new details to discover this year. The centrepiece is a spectacular 30-foot-tall Christmas tree made entirely of stacked presents, alongside redesigned holiday window displays, and new festive installations throughout the streets.

A new silent cinema experience in the alley adds a nostalgic touch, while movie-inspired décor celebrates Martini Town’s connection to BC’s film industry, including many of the heartwarming Christmas movies filmed on site.

Merry & Bright will feature more live entertainment this festive season, too. The courthouse steps will become a central performance area, hosting a rotating lineup of musical acts and special entertainment throughout the season. New character appearances add to the fun, with Ebenezer Scrooge joining on Friday evenings and Santa’s Elf helping families capture their holiday photos.

The “Green Christmas Grouch” returns for the full season, bringing his familiar mischievous personality to Martini Town. Santa Claus will also be there every event day through December 23, before the jolliest man in town heads off to prepare for his big night. Film-style “snow” will be back for a bit of wintry magic, but, when it comes to the actual weather, a large, clear-roofed tent over Town Square provides a sheltered spot for guests to enjoy performances, protected from the elements.

For holiday shoppers, the Market Lane will feature approximately 20 vendors throughout the season, with a mix of full-season and rotating sellers offering gifts, handmade products and festive finds. Housed in a heated, enclosed tent, the market gives guests a comfortable place to shop for something special.

When it comes to eats, treats, and sips, there’s more to taste this holiday season, with an expanded selection of food and beverages, whether guests are after a full meal, a quick snack, something sweet or a festive drink. New vendors include Taco Nori, serving sushi tacos, and Mediterranean Grill, offering wraps, fries, and other fresh options. Returning favourites include Texas Smoke BBQ, Hot Mini Donuts, Sticky’s Candy, and Bar Down Bakery.

New this year, Merry & Bright will offer a range of adult beverages, including beer and cider from local favourites Barnside Brewing and Fraser Valley Cider, and classics at The Martini Cafe, like mulled wine or spiked hot chocolate.
